Article excerpt

Greetings,

On behalf of the Journal of Colorism Studies (JOCS), we are happy to publish this thematic issue "Celebrating, Embracing and Empowering Girls and Women of Color" in collaboration with the National Girls and Women of Color Council, Inc. and I Am Beautiful-ICP Global, Inc. This is the first time in history that a journal is celebrating, embracing and empowering girls and women of color and we are proud.

This issue contains articles, essays and interviews that will enlighten, inspire, motivate and encourage women of color to celebrate, embrace and empower themselves and other women of color as they continue their journeys. When we celebrate girls and women of color, we are embracing them. It is that embrace that empowers them to achieve goals, to find their voices and be heard, to defy negative stereotypes, love themselves unconditionally, be authentic, reach higher ground, and focus on their psychological, emotional, physical and social well-being, growth and happiness. This is the first of two issues focusing on girls and women of color. The second issue will be published in December of this year.

JOCS believes in and encourages celebrating and embracing the diversity of all people of color worldwide, and with great enthusiasm, we invite you to submit content for review and publication in JOCS. …
