Witnessing significant paradigm shifts in conceptualizing and comprehending illnesses and diseases, it has become apparent that sharp delineation of physical and psychical is becoming increasingly difficult. After all, a whole subspecialisation of psychiatry (liaison or consultation psychiatry) has been based on these foundations, but at the same time numerous "somatic" branches of medicine have been enriched with a series of psychological moments and findings, in order to provide better understanding of the patients' troubles and improve their treatment. Within that context, cardiovascular diseases are one of the major areas of interest, especially as among ten most burdensome illnesses in the world at this moment (in terms of number of people suffering from them, and also regarding the financial strain they put on the healthcare systems) there are four psychiatric and cardiovascular entities.
