Conderence Represents Opportunity to Grow

I sit down to write this with six weeks to go until the Hawke's Bay conference unfolds. I think back to last year when I took the plunge and offered the services of the Hawkes Bay branch to run the conference, what a daunting prospect. Our partnership firstly with Sport Hawkes Bay has made the organisation less of a nightmare for the frontline teacher, of which basically all of our committee is comprised. At this point, I acknowledge Matt Lock, who has borne the brunt of the donkey work with the guidance of the committee.

The programme will be wide ranging and will cover all aspects of Hauora - Wellbeing. There will be opportunities to grow professionally, personally, emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. You will be challenged in all areas; you will be drawn out of your safe zone.

Keynote speakers include Jeni Pearce, one of New Zealand's leading dieticians and sports nutritionists, Ken Hodge, one of New Zealand's leading sports psychologists, Donna Awatere Huata, ACT spokesperson for Education and Maori Affairs, and Bob Stothart, a valued spokesperson and advocate for Physical Education nationally. …
