This is an excellent text that provides good practical advice on the operation of a credit control system. It is one of a series of such texts dealing on the one hand with various management techniques (finance, book-keeping, selling, negotiating, marketing and so on) and on the other hand with the development of personal management skills such as assertiveness, time management, presentation skills and succeeding at interviews.

The series is offered under a common format which claims that success will be attained in a week No one is expected to believe this any more than claims for language texts that promise fluency in French. On the other hand the book could certainly be read and understood in a couple of hours. Its attractive layout, generous use of space and fairly large print makes its 96 pages easy to follow and understand.

What the work does not do, and this is not a criticism since it has no such aim, is to explore the fundamental issues of the nature and purpose of credit control. It does not, for example, ask how much ofthe company's capital should be invested in trade credit in order to maximise profits, how to measure the efficiency of a credit system or how to evaluate the financial data to enable an accurate picture to be established of the viability and profitability ofa. client company. It provides instead good solid advice on how to manage the detailed routine of credit control. …
