I found this to be a very useful and readable text presented in a particularly helpful way. The format of learning objectives - text - summary - case studies - discussion questions combine to provide a good balance of theory and practice. Chapters were of a good length with sufficient depth, but without too much information. Too often texts in this area have the tendency to put the reader off by over stressing the background and not getting down to the business of making decisions. This text keeps its feet very firmly on the ground offering genuine aid to the reader.

The preface effectively sets the tone for the subsequent text. It is pointed out that no attempt is being made to identify a universal technique guaranteed to bring the manager to fight decisions. …
