Vhs Board Welcomes New Trustees

The VHS board of trustees elected four new memAbers at its November meeting to replace those whose terms expired at the end of 2003. Those who rotated off the board were John B. Adams, Jr., of Richmond; Elliot S. Schewel of Lynchburg; Charles W Sydnor, Jr., of Richmond; and Nancy St. Clair Talley of Millwood. The board also appointed Hugh V. White Jr. to succeed Hugh R. Stallard as chairman and E. Claiborne Robins, Jr., to become vice chairman.

President and CEO of the Bowman Companies in Fredericksburg, John B. Adams, Jr. (pictured above on the left), has served as chairman of the Virginia Manufacturers Association and director of Virginia Power, Universal Corporation, and the Fauquier Bank. A graduate of V.M.I, and Washington and Lee law school, he has been a trustee of the George C. Marshall Foundation and the Mary Washington College Foundation. he lives in The Plains.

J. Stewart Bryan III (pictured above on the right) of Richmond is chairman and CEO of Media General. A graduate of UVA, he has been a board member of the Newspaper Association of America and the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association. He has been a trustee of the VHS and has served as director of Goodwill Industries of Richmond, the United Way of Greater Richmond, the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges, and the Virginia Freedom of Information Advisory Council. …
