Now that it's test time,

Let's review.

Gallbladder, liver,

And pancreas, too!

Look at the liver,

It's very complex.

Over 400 functions

At its best.

The gallbladder's simpler,

Only a few.

Storage makes one,

And concentration makes two.

Exocrine pancreas?

So what's this all about?

Exocrine... "through the duct"

Is how it all gets out.

Now that it's test time,

Let's review.

Gallbladder, liver,

And pancreas, too!

Portal circulation

From the GI tract.

Takes it to the liver,

All the nutrients extract.

Hepatocytes and Kupffer cells

And bile canaliculi.

All found in the liver

With a microscopic eye.

Bile flow from the liver ducts,

To the gallbladder to be stored.

Ready for that meal of fat,

But don't forget - there's more.

Bile carries along the bilirubin

For excretion from that fellow.

If something gets in the way,

That fellow turns all yellow!

Now that it's test time,

Let's review.

Gallbladder, liver,

And pancreas, too!

Let's look at Pathophys.

Sick it's got to be

When liver has hepatitis,

A, B, C, or D???

Don't forget steatorrhea.

What's this you say?

Floating, frothy, foul-smelling?

Why not just flush it away!

Straight up or on the rocks?

Inflammation on the way. …
