THE IAM held its Annual General Meeting on Friday, January 30, 2004, attended by some 30 Corporate Members, Fellows and VicePresidents of the Institute. Peter Fitzpatrick, the outgoing Chairman of Council, chaired the meeting before handing over the chain of office to Ewen Mackie FlnstAM who will be Chairman for the next two years.

Bruce Hamilton took over the role of Honorary Treasurer, while Charles Wilson will chair the Education Committee and Mike Turner continues to lead the Quality Assurance and Assessment Board (the former Chief Examiner's Committee).

The decision was also taken to reduce the number of people on Council in order to focus more closely on strategic and governance issues and improve decision-making processes.

In addition to the office bearers, Jacgueline McLean, Patricia Wall and Moira Beswick were elected to serve on the new seven-person Council, which is also attended by the Chief Executive in an ex officio capacity. The thanks of the Institute are due to these people who are prepared to serve-in an entirely voluntary capacity-as Trustees of the Charity and members of Council. …
