Dear Ms. Chadwick:

I am deeply disturbed with the printing of Francille M. Firebaugh's review of A Nourishing Life, by Katharine Parker Riddle (Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, Vol. 92, Issue 2, and p. 9) with its recommendation to our members as a case study. Does this signal a policy of AAFCS to recognize homosexuality as a viable "force for strong families?" This is in direct opposition to my understanding of the mission of the organization: to effect the optimum well being of families and individuals.

If AAFCS expects to be a force in the "continuing and emerging concerns" and the "critical issues" concerning the family, then it had better take a clear and bold position as to its advocacy for principles upon which strong families are built: A father and mother, united in marriage, who love and care for each other, who rear their children in love and righteousness, who provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and who teach them to love and serve one another, to observe the commandments of God and to be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. …
