Article excerpt

We thank the more than 80 members and guests who attended sessions in Philadelphia and invite all guests and interested parties to become members of the Teachers of African-American Students Special Interest Group (SIG) by sending in the very reasonable membership fee. This fee validates and supports our efforts for intercommunication among us.

Please join us at the 2004 SIG sessions for two exciting sessions, one of which will be presented by SIG member Pablo Muirhead. One of the goals of the SIG is to promote sharing of best practices for educators of African-American students of foreign language, and Pablo is eminently qualified to do that.

Pablo is the classroom teacher of focus of Episode 26 in the new Annenberg/WGBH series, Teaching Foreign Languages K-12: A Library of Classroom Practices, a series of 28 half-hour and 2 one-hour video programs, library guide, and Web site.

More news on the SIG session will appear in a future issue. Please join us-and join the SIG!
