Robbie is in the second grade. It's very difficult for his teacher and classmates to understand Robbie because he has a speech impairment that surfaces whenever he gets nervous or excited. The plot of this short picture book evolves around the event of the Christmas assembly for which Robbie (by luck of the draw) has been chosen to tell a special story he has written. All of the second graders relish the idea of being chosen and all are worried about what will happen when Robbie gets on stage to read his story. He can't help but be nervous, can he?

Robbie works tirelessly to write "just the right story." He works through a series of what he refers to as "lame" story ideas, such as how a snowflake landed on a fruitcake and thought it was a raisin, before writing a story that really helps everyone think about the Christmas season in a meaningful way. …
