Dec. 5: Shaykh 'Ali Salman Ahmad Salman was arrested on unspecified charges. Salman had organized a petition calling for the restoration of the elected National Assembly. Riots broke out in Bilad and al-Qadin to protest his arrest. [12/19 FBIS]

Dec. 14: Police used tear pas against 100 demonstrators in Manama and Qadim who were protesting the government's refusal to release Shaykh 'Ali Salman. [12/15 F, 12/16 FBIS]
