To inspire each other, the members of this SIG could inform each other of their efforts to enhance instruction for our students. Here is a summary of the activities of a few SIG members:

Anita Ratwick (Minneapolis, MN) and Susan Colville Hall (Akron, Ohio) will present at the Central States Conference on "Preparing teachers to teach ALL students." They will highlight the work of the New Visions in Action Taskforce on Curriculum, Instruction, Articulation and Assessment. The task force's assembly of criteria that are common to successful programs for diverse students will be accompanied by examples of best practices. Nancy Gadbois (Springfield, MA) appears on part of the Annenberg Project video series (described here in an earlier column). A portion of the Assessment Video on alternative assessment is based on the music of Carole Fredericks, an African-American chanteuse who emigrated to France in the 1970s and rose to the top of the musical charts in both Europe and Africa. …
