Looking at this publication, my first reaction was to say: "But who needs today a compilation of papers which will be outdated in no time! Everybody has access to the Net nowadays and can make his own search." However, after having put the book on my desk for a few weeks I realized how useful and practical it is. In a twinkling of an eye you find a reference on almost every subject pertaining to child psychiatry. The bibliography is divided into sections: Each one offers a summary on the subject, a diagnosis, critical issues which focuses on recent developments and controversies.

The guide is handy for supervisors teaching students and wishing to direct them toward pertinent literature. It will be much in use for a busy clinician looking for a paper in a domain in which he has no expertise, sparing him hours of endless literature search. Examples would be: legislation, consent, competence or organization of services, topics not currently dealt with in journals and textbooks. …
