IN advance of next month's 'Manager' article, this brief overview illustrates the necessity of having a holistic approach to project management.

Training needs to provide pragmatic solutions to many of the issues that surround project management-from interpersonal skills (see Fierce Conversations' ideas (Pages 28-29) through to the technical skills and knowledge reguired (as discussed in David Shannon's governance article (Pages 18-19).

Furthermore, a generic approach to the discipline is not always appropriate and only a customised approach is really effective.
