Bishop Quinton K. Primo, jr., the first black bishop suffragan of the Chicago diocese of the Kpiscopal Church, died before the manuscript for this book was published. His family subsequently published it as a biography. Let us make it clear from the outset: This book will not find much applause from the scholarly community because it does not exhibit any of the requirements of rigorous academic work-a clear thesis, cogent arguments, documentation of claims, bibliography, index, etc. But let us also be clear from the outset that Bishop Primo did not write his manuscript to stand before scholarly critique. He cites upfront (bur reasons why he wrote it: (1) "to record many of the fascinationg experiences of two generations of ordained [Primo] ministers; (2) to write a family history for my children and granddaughters...(3) to provide inspiration, motivation, and encouragement to young pastors. …
