Article excerpt

We would like to acknowledge the most recent accomplishment-or achievement-of a former Journal board member, a current SHEAR officer on the advisory council, and a long-time, active member of the organization: Laura McCall. Metropolitan State College has awarded Laura the 2001 Golden Key National Honor Society Outstanding Faculty Research/Scholar Award. This award honors a body of research and scholarship representing a faculty member's career to date. As the award committee put it in its letter to Laura, "The award committee ... had an outstanding group of candidates to consider and judged your application most meritorious. Clearly, you have been engaged in exciting, wonderful research which holds both breadth and depth; this brings credit to you and to the Metropolitan State College of Denver." As we could-and would-both attest, Laura McCall's professionalism, her continuous and prodigious scholarly activity, and her service to the profession, especially SHEAR, made a prima facie case for her nomination for, and reception of, the Golden Key Award. Congratulations, Laura!
