Plan Ahead: Deferred Gifts for the Vhs

As important as Annual Giving is to the current programs of the Society and as impressive as our success has been so far in the 175th Anniversary Campaign, we need to look to the future, too. The long-term strength of the Society depends in large part on the growth of our endowment, the unrestricted investment fund that produces income to support our programs in good times and bad. Over the years, one of the primary sources of endowment funds has been the generosity of members and friends through their estate plans and other deferred gifts.

Planned gifts may be made in the form of bequests in your will or trust, or by naming the Society as beneficiary of your life insurance or annuity. You can continue to receive income during your lifetime from charitable remainder trusts and gift annuities. To discuss these deferred giving options, please call Pam Seay at 804.342.9681 and consult with your estate attorney. All details of estate plans remain confidential.

The Virginia Heritage Registry was created as an official record of those individuals who have provided for future gifts to the Society. This leather-bound volume, a permanent record for the VHS archives, is inscribed with the names of all those who designate the Society as the recipient of a bequest, annuity, or other planned gift.
