THIS is a book that knows exactly what it is and who it's intended for - "all you really need and nothing else" is a key phrase. Its minimalist approach makes it a reference book without the references.

I particularly enjoyed the idea of 'Fast Thinking Gambles': some authors may have (pompously) called this risk analysis, but I preferred the honesty of this terminology. The authors recognise that time is the big issue in modern business - "and if you've been given as little as 15 minutes (it does happen), then there's a trulyup-against-the wall version to help you prepare faster than the speed of life."

The authors also have a quirky sense of humour, which helps in reading and (mostly) doesn't get in the way of the message. Similarly, the short, sharp sections help focus the search for a particular area of activity, and the consistency of format (project in half a day, decision in an hour, etc) is also useful. …
