IAM Completes Syllabus 05 Review

The IAM has announced that it has completed the review of its syllabus, which remains as per the outline published in the April/May 2005 issue of Manager ("Why we have revised syllabus content" by IAM Chief Examiner, Mike Turner, pages 10/11). The new syllabus can be followed from September 2005, although students will be able to enter for examinations under the old syllabus in December 2005 and June 2006. Only examinations under the new syllabus will be available from December 2006.

There are only five units at Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels, two less at each level than under the current syllabus. A table of transfer equivalencies is available on the IAM website (www.instam. org). The Institute has made equivalencies between the old and the new programmes as straightforward as possible - not least so that students, who have commenced their studies under the old programme, can transfer to the new one easily and minimise the number of new units they need to take. Detailed guidance is available from tuition providers or from IAM Head Office.

With the streamlined "5 + 5" unit format (potentially enabling students to complete the Diploma and Advanced Diploma in just two years) and the progression route to the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in Strategic Administrative Management, it is clear that the IAM now offers an extremely attractive qualifying scheme for anyone working in Administration. …
