After over 40 years as a leading information resource for government financial managers, the Journal is changing its look.

I've long been a believer that the look of a publication can determine whether someone will pick it up and read it--you must entice the reader. The issues discussed in the Journal are consistently innovative and timely, but in my opinion have been somewhat "lost" in the archaic design.

AGA members have voiced their frustrations over the years, expressing their desire for a quarterly magazine comparable to those distributed by similar professional organizations. These concerns were echoed by the National Executive Committee (NEC), who wholeheartedly agreed it was time to make a change after a presentation on the "Journal of the future" last July.

Without the support of the NEC, my colleagues on the National Office staff, and most of all, Publications Committee Chair Richard Calahan and his committee, this monumental "makeover" would not have been possible. The process has been an evolution of sorts, and although there have been ups and downs, I have enjoyed being at the center of bringing this project to fruition. …
