The indefatigable Philippe Ménard, and his team (it is worth remembering that it is also he who gave us the complete text of the Prose Tristan), give us two further volumes of the complete text of Marco Polo's account of his journeys (see MÆ, 72 (2003), 156f.); there are a further three volumes to come. In volume II, Marco crosses Afghanistan and reaches China, and in III, he arrives at the court of Kublai Khan; we have therefore reached the point where Marco's journeys become especially intriguing. …
