In her introduction, Shannon McSheffrey proclaims that 'easy access to the original Latin texts, along with an English translation, will help bring these intriguing materials to a wider audience of scholars and students'(p. 1). This edition and translation by McSheffrey and Norman Tanner of documents relating to the Lollard trials in the city of Coventry does exactly that, presenting some of the most complete surviving trial materials for early sixteenth-century Lollards.

The editors have arranged the materials in the unique Lichfield Court Book and the registers of Bishops Hales and Blyth in chronological order for easier reference, and provide before each entry the date, names of accused heretics, manuscript or document source with folio number, notes about the order of the folios, the Latin text, and the English translation. …
