July 26: The Israeli Justice Ministry indicted Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's son, Omri, for a campaign funding scandal. Attorney General Menachem Mazuz cleared Ariel Sharon in February but said Omri would face charges including fraud, breach of trust, and perjury. [WP, 7/26]

Aug. 4: An Israeli Army deserter, Eden Nathan Zaada, dressed in a military uniform, opened fire aboard a bus carrying Arab Israeli passengers in the northern Israeli town of Shfaram. Four were killed and at least a dozen were wounded before a crowd of passers-by beat Zaada to death. [BBC, 8/4]

Nearly 150 Israelis opposed to disengagement from Gaza were detained after infiltrating the Jewish settlement of Nisanit in northern Gaza. [BBC, 8/4]

Aug. 7: Israeli Finance Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced his resignation in protest of Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and parts of the West Bank. He claimed Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon had reneged on an election promise to hold on to the territory. [Al-Jazeera, 8/7]
