The role of the PA requires a diverse skill set to be implemented - very often at spinning "Wonder Woman" speed (and I mean no offence or discrimination to the male PAs out there - please transpose the words "Wonder Woman" for whatever super hero you favour!). Similar to the grace of a swan serenely gliding across a lake, the PA is required to show effortless efficiency even when the underwater driving energy is operating at maximum capacity (and, let's be honest, often tangled with weeds!). There is an expectation that the PA will ensure their manager glides across the water of their hectic schedules with the same swanlike grace. Of course in reality it rarely feels this smooth and whilst the PA does everything in their power to ensure both the efficiency and wellbeing of their manager, looking after their own energy and wellbeing can be something of a challenge.

The PA comes into contact with a great many different people aside from their manager - other team members, stakeholders, customers, clients and external suppliers to name but a few. …
