As regular readers of TheatreForum know, we typically publish two plays in each issue. These are new plays that have had a professional production, have not been widely circulated in English or English translation, and are innovative in some way. They are published with an introduction (usually by the author, director, or dramaturg) and many production photos. It is our intention to bring these deserving new plays to the attention of potential producers, directors, and literary managers as well as to our other subscribers.

José Rivera's Another Word for Beauty is set in Buena Pastor Prison, a large women's prison in Colombia, where once a year the inmates present their version of an Atlantic City beauty pageant. Contestants representing each cellblock compete to be crowned winner.

Jiehae Park's Peerless explores the tenacity of Asian American twins as they maneuver their way into The College and strive to fulfill their ambitious desires. Murder and double-crossing are not forbidden in their pursuit.
