When Bita A. Kash, PhD, FACHE, began her term as editor of the Journal of Healthcare Management (JHM) in January 2015, she immediately put her interest in practiceoriented research to work for the greater good. Dr. Kash's able guidance of the official journal of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) has directly supported the organization's preeminent position in the advancement of healthcare management excellence.

Healthcare professionals today are faced with the emergence of tremendous challenges, notably value-based care models, physician engagement and employment, and population health. As JHM editor, Dr. Kash has led a continuing exploration of those challenges and many others through the presentation of relevant research. She has helped us discover the opportunities these challenges may bring in improving care.

Among the many highlights of her term, Dr. Kash can point to an increased flow of manuscripts submitted for consideration, which has allowed selectivity in both quality of research and topics, and to the promotion of a worldview that provides the international perspectives of researchers that are applicable to new realities in the United States-care coordination models to reduce costs, for example. …
