Because of the recent trend in the USA towards jingoistic, white nationalism and its subsequent alienation of other nations and peoples, international organizations have become especially important. From its inception, TheatreForum has been "an international journal of innovative performance dedicated to documenting, discussing, and disseminating innovative and provocative theatrework." It has been proactively international in its content, contributors, contributing editors, advisors, and circulation.

The 52 issues published since its founding in 1992 have included more than 100 professionally produced, but not previously published, plays from the USA, Kuwait, UK, Germany, Mexico, Russia, Australia, France, Serbia, Ivory Coast, Cuba, Denmark, China, Spain, and the Republic of Korea. Furthermore, there have been articles from these countries in addition to Austria, Poland, Japan, Canada, and Iran. …
