Casey Fitzgerald, Retiring Pension Reform: An Analysis of In re Pension Reform Litigation, 2015 IL 118585, 32 N.E.3D 1, 41 S. Ill, U. L.J. 345402 (2017). This article details the public pension crisis facing Illinois, using a recent Illinois Supreme Court decision. The decision struck down an attempt to limit pension benefits as background. The author describes the historical arc of public pensions in Illinois and the complex legal issues that lawmakers and pensioners face. The article endorses the court's decision and explores possible solutions, namely a gradual phasing out of the current system; an unpopular, but necessary solution according to the author.

This article examines how the Supreme Court has handled the issues of race and religion in the public-school system. The courts have viewed the public-school system as a force used to bind students together to experience a diversity of cultures and backgrounds that will create a common culture.
