We sadly announce that one of the senior most directors of Hamdard Pakistan and close associate of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said, Mr. Masood Ahmed Barakati who had been and would be, known for his exemplary literary services, passed away on 10th December 2017 after a protracted illness. He was 87.

Barakati sahib (b. 15 August 1930) belonged to a family hailing from Tonk, Rajasthan, India, that produced a number of famous intellectuals.

He joined Hamdard (Waqf) in 1952. He was a close associate of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said. As a prolific author and eminent scholar, he devoted himself for promoting knowledge specially among the children through his long career of editing two magazines of the Hamdard Foundation Pakistan, the monthly Hamdard Naunehāl (for almost 65 years consecutively) and Hamdard Sehat and thousands of articles and stories besides authoring numerous articles and 20 books including the first travelogue for children in Urdu entitled Do Musafir Do Mulk. …
