Let's say you could take it all back-every kill, everyone

you'd been ordered to hurt. Let's say all you had to do was

raise your hand with that fierce look of prayer because

battles can be unfought, military lines undrawn, training

never started. Let's say land can be healed, rivers untainted,

flags raised to a peaceful sky. No veterans. No PTSD. No

trauma. Say all you had to do was undo the legends. You've

attended master classes, read the books, searched archives.

Doesn't everyone lose the ability to feel? Gaze at what the

ceiling hides-ventilation, roofline, impossible stars. Who

hasn't accidentally destroyed when they meant to save?

Let's try to reverse our individual worst. Let the feet take up

the stance. …
