The first paper "Dimensions of Competitive Advantage" (Downing, 2018) analyses industry structures and the components of a competitive advantage for firms operating in different markets with the intention to provide a depth of understanding for how firms compete differently in fragmented industries. The paper provides an in-depth review of the strategy literature to provide useful schemas on industry structure and competitive advantage.

The second paper "Will Islamic Marketing Survive in Today's World?" (Jan & Wan, 2018) develops a framework that describes three main issues/ challenges faced by Islamic Marketing in today's world. The three issues identified are related to 'halal', 'legality, and 'branding'. It is suggested that for successful implementation of Islamic marketing and to capture the Islamic market, marketers will have to address these three issues.

The third paper "In Defence of "Replication Research"" (Laing, Perrin & Laing, 2018) is a theoretical analysis of the socially constructed reality of financial accounting.
