Questia, your online research library and paper writing resource, contains thousands of scholarly Philosophy articles and books.
Philosophy is the study of the underlying causes and rationalities of the very way we think, perceive, and exist; the enduring search for truth. Some schools of philosophy are derived from preexisting ideas about the surrounding world, but others developed concurrently, transcending culture.
Although philosophy is closely related to science and religion, it has several distinguishing features. It diverges from religion because of its emphasis on observation and reasoning, rather than faith, in order to interpret the world. While science requires empirical evidence as support for its ideas, philosophy is much more welcoming of deduction.
