It's almost time for what is called "Tour de Hart III: The Finish Line," an amazing journey for charity being conducted by an equally amazing man, Gordon Bailey, Jr.

Bailey, chairman of the board at Bailey Nurseries, Inc., St. Paul, Minn., is pedaling 1,200 miles from Cleveland to Boston, to finish at the 2003 Convention & Learning Retreat of the American Nursery and Landscape Association July 15-20. The finish line in Boston will complete Bailey's coast-to-coast trek, which began in Oregon to raise money for the ANLA's Horticultural Research Institute (H.R.I.).

The adventure was launched in the summer of 1999, and Bailey celebrated his 64th birthday while pedaling from Oregon to Minnesota on that original Tour de Hort. His 2,100-mile ride raised more than $350,000 in contributions for H.R.I..

The second Tour de Hort took Bailey biking more than 1,200 miles from Minnesota to Cleveland, where he arrived just in time for the ANLA's 2001 Convention and Learning Retreat. …
