Libraries nationwide celebrated the 45th anniversary of National Library Week, April 6-12, with a variety of activities, programs, and special events.

1. The library staff at Temple University's Beasley School of Law in Philadelphia hosts an April 11 Grecianthemed reception, "2003-A Library Odyssey."

2. The Bristol Renaissance Faire Queen's Court visits the Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee, Illinois, April 5 to kick off the fifth annual Shakespeare on Main Street Festival.

3. Author Bernard Most is special guest April 6 at Scarsdale (N.Y.) Public Library for "Dino Day." Joining Most is Head of Circulation Celeste "Dolly the Dinosaur" Fraioli.

4. At a pre-NLW event in Florida, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Rebeca Sosa reads to children at the Miami-Dade Public Library System's Fairlawn branch.

5. Silveria Balleron shows teens how to make foil art from her native Mexico April 10 at Lake Villa (Ill.) District Library.

6. Kathy Kyrouac (right) shows her Des Plaines (Ill.) Public Library card to Alpesh Bhagwakar, owner of Kaffeccino, for a discount on a coffee drink in a promotion cosponsored by the Des Plaines Chamber of Commerce and Industry that involved 34 local businesses. …
