Disclosure Acquires Bechtel

Disclosure Incorporated announced last month that it has completed its acquisition of Bechtel Information Services, Inc. (BIS) of Gaithersburg, MD from the San Francisco-based Bechtel Corporation. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Bechtel had been the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) official distributor of microfiche and paper copies of SEC filings for the last six years. According to Disclosure President Steven Goldspiel, this was a primary reason Disclosure approached Bechtel after the company was put on the market. "Disclosure had the SEC contracts from 1968 through 1985 until the government awarded the filings to Bechtel. Disclosure wanted to get the contracts back."

The BIS office in Gaithersburg employed approximately 125 personnel. Goldspiel says that these employees will continue to work in their same capacities and that after a transitionary period, all office functions will be moved to the Disclosure project center in Bethesda, MD.

Disclosure's take over of Bechtel will also make them a subcontractor to the McLean, VA-based BDM International, Inc. …
