* It always fills people with a sense of frugality and accomplishment when they empty their coins each night into ajar, piggy bank, drawer, or what have you. Eventually, though, there comes that dreaded moment when months of accumulation reach the point where they have to be sorted, counted, and wrapped for the bank, a time-consuming project at best. Of course, you could take the coward's way out and drag them over to one of those grocery store coin-counting machines that will perform the chore for a rather hefty percentage of the total--a sort of mechanical Shylock.

A far-better solution is to use the UltraSorter Motorized Coin Sorter ($29.95) from Mag-Nif, Inc., Mentor, Ohio. Just press the button to activate the device, then drop up to 20 coins at a time into a large-mouthed hopper at the top. The machine will sort the coins by denomination and drop them into tubes below, each of which has a wrapper within it. As the tubes fill to the designated amount, tilt the coin drawer forward; remove the full tube, which is ready to be sealed; and replace it with an empty one.
