Delegates attending the 2003 NLC Congress of Cities in Nashville, Tenn., December 9-13, will be treated to the best Music City USA has to offer.

Known around the globe for its thriving music industry and diverse menu of nightly live performances, Nashville is one of the world's leading tourist destinations. Music City generates sounds the world listens to--hot country, pop, bluegrass, rhythm and blues and gospel.

Citing the city's vast music, cultural, dining and arts offerings, "Travel + Leisure" magazine in December named Nashville one of the 10 great places to spend the Christmas season.

In hosting the 2003 Congress of Cities, Nashville is lining up the city's premier attractions for NLC delegates in December.

"Nashville On Stage" will come to life in ultimate fashion during the host city closing event Saturday, December 13 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center's Delta Island and Ballroom.

Delegates will experience why Nashville is known as Music City USA as they listen to an array of music--including country, pop, bluegrass, rhythm and blues and gospel--performed on stages around every corner.

Then, as one would expect from Music City, the evening will be capped with a grand finale that one will not want to miss.

The host city of Nashville is also developing a series of mobile workshops will highlight the some of the city's best programs.

Mobile workshops will run Wednesday, December 10, through Friday, December 12, and will include topics such as:

* Reforming Storm Water Management

* Civil Rights Trail--Nashville's Historic Role in the Civil Rights Era

* The Future Begins with Youth

* Drug Court Program--Substance Abuse Treatment Alternatives

* Feel the Energy--Metro Nashville's District Energy System
