Alcom Introduces LanFax Redirector for Windows

Alcom Corp., the leading developer of document communications server software for local-area and wide-area networks, has announced the release of LanFax Redirector for Windows, now offering users on a LAN the ability to fax directly from any printable Windows application in a Windows 3.0 environment. Using the print redirection method, Windows files are converted into fax format and transmitted to any fax machine in the world in true What-You-See-Is-What-You-Fax (WYSI-WYF) format through peer-to-peer communications.

LanFax Redirector for Windows conforms to Intel's CAS standard (Communicating Application Specifications), the fastest growing standard for facsimile communications. The fax transmission process is made easy by using Fax Manager, a graphical user-interface for managing incoming and outgoing faxes. With Fax Manager users can easily send a fax from within a Windows application simply by initiating the print function, highlighting the recipient's name from the personal phone directory, attaching an optional cover page and clicking OK. Users can also broadcast to a distribution list by creating their own phone directories of frequently faxed individuals.

LanFax Redirector for Windows increases productivity in business communications on the LAN by saving time spent on administrative tasks, and providing resource sharing and expense tracking. It also streamlines the process for receiving faxes. Incoming messages are received at the server and can be called-up from any client station by selecting the message from the received log. The received log displays the date and time the fax was received. Options to view, print, delete and save the fax as a file are also available from this menu. For added security, incoming faxes can be automatically routed to the received log and viewed only by authorized users. …
