The Hearts N' Parks program in Henderson, Nev., was one of the first organizations to receive a $10,000 General Mills Youth Nutrition and Fitness grant, which is given to encourage communities in the U.S. to improve the eating and physical activity patterns of young people, ages 2-20.

Richard Robles retired from his position as recreation superintendent with the City of Henderson (Nev.) Parks and Recreation Department after 20 years of service to Henderson, and 30 years to the parks and recreation profession. Robles has been active in the Nevada Recreation and Parks Society and as a NRPA Pacific Southwest regional representative. He has received many awards over the years, but the two he is most proud of during his tenure in Henderson was the National Gold Medal and NRPA National Accreditation.
