New High-End Modem with CCITT V.32 and V.42 bis Compatibility

UDS has introduced the 16th member of its 9600/V.32 high-speed modem family, the UDS V.3227. The new, full featured modem is ideal for central site and modem pooling applications. It is fully compatible with the CCITT V.32 standard for 9600 bits per second (bps) communications and the CCITT V.42 bis standard for error correction and data compression.

In addition, it provides a wide range of other features, including: asynchronous and synchronous transmission; dial-up and leased-line compatibility; a front LCD display with pushbutton control over configuration options; and interchangeable standalone/rackmount capability.

"The V.3227 has everything you'd ever want in a 9600 bps modem," said Bill Schlosser, director of business development at UDS. "It has all the latest innovations in high-speed modem technology and gives the user complete control over these features from the pushbutton front panel."

The new modem is best suited for high-volume data throughput. When the CCITT V.42 bis data compression feature is in use, the V.3227 can transmit at up to 38,400 bps. The modem automatically adjusts to match incoming transmissions from other CCITT and Bell compatible modems, and can operate at rates of 9600, 4800, 2400 and 1200 bps without data compression. …
