RIMS Grants Charters to Two Florida Chapters

The Palm Beach and the Southwest Florida chapters have been granted charters by the Executive Council of the Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc., bringing the total number of chapters to 88.

"We started with 12 member companies transferring from other chapters," said Palm Beach Chapter President/Society Director Howard Taylor of South Florida Water Management District. "Our goal this year is to double that with new members that aren't currently RIMS chapter members."

Other Palm Beach Chapter officers are Ellen Marshall, Cross Country Healthcare Personnel, vice president; John Beyer, Florida Power and Light Group, treasurer; and Marty Strumer, Florida Power and Light Group, secretary.

Effective Networking

"A primary objective this year is to help our members network effectively with each other," said Dennis Slabaugh, risk manager of Community Health Care Inc. and president of the Southwest Florida Chapter. "One of the biggest challenges inherent in that objective is to accommodate the broad range of companies that make up our membership. We have one member company with less than 10 people, and the risk manager performs other duties as well."
