Microfilm Quality Control From Fuji

Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. has introduced Micro-Scan, a stand-alone, labor-saving quality control system designed to evaluate and monitor microfilm processing. The system integrates an intelligent scanning densitometer, a sensitometer with adjustable exposure and a printer. Initially the system will be installed in Fuji Image Plus and Fuji Accredited Microfilm labs. It also will be available to large end-users who meet certain qualifications.

"The main appeal of the Micro-Scan is how easily it improves the quality of microfilm processing," says Greg Pelican, Product Marketing Manager, Micrographic Products Division, Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc. "But besides superior results, it brings a host of other benefits including increased productivity, reduced labor costs and better management of multi-shift operations."

Fuji's Micro-Scan is compatible with both conventional and full reversal processing and all types of microfilm. The system includes an automatic "intelligent" scanning densitometer and built-in software that calculates and evaluates image quality and stores the resulting data.

The evaluation of each control strip takes less than 5 seconds. Plotting and calculating the same information manually could take up to 15 minutes. …
