Telebyte Technology Inc. has announced availability of its miniaturized Model 209F Short Haul Modem. The Model 209F has been optimized for the COM ports of the PC AT/386 and allows the PC to communicate with other serial devices up to 19,200 BPS over distances of one mile.

The Model 209F offers all the features of the company's Model 201 Short Haul Modem but in a package which is approximately one third the volume. Measuring 2"W x 3"L x .75"H the Model 209F incorporates a female DB-9 connector in order that it can be plugged directly into any one of the PC's serial COM ports. In a PC operating on a UNIX/ZENIX platform, with multi-user capability, the Model 209F is the perfect solution for full duplex transmission of data between the PC and the workstations. If the workstations are standard RS-232 devices using DB-25 connectors then the Model 201 can be used since the 209F and the 201 are fully compatible with each other at the line side.

The Model 209F provides operations from 0 to 19,200 BPS. Maximum distance between modems is a function of wire size. …
