Dialog Releases OnDisc Software For The Macintosh

Dialog Information Services recently announced the release of the first version of DIALOG OnDisc software for use on Apple Macintosh computers. The new software allows all existing DIALOG OnDisc products to work with the Macintosh, except TRADEMARKSCANFEDERAL. There is no need to order separate CD-ROMs for DOS and Macintosh workstations. The Macintosh software offers the following features: Boolean search capability, using a menu interface; automatically expanded indexes; both predefined and user-defined output formats; a direct entry screen where search terms can be entered using proximity indicators; a menu-driven interface; related terms in databases with thesauri; saving and printing search results in a variety of formats.

The Macintosh version of DIALOG OnDisc also has some additional features that are not included in the current DOS version: the search history can be viewed at any point to show the user what search steps have been executed and search steps can be deleted using the search history display; once you view a record, you can highlight words or phrases in the record itself and search those words or phrases without having to reenter them; records can be sorted by two fields (for example, by author and, within that, by journal name); the size of the type that displays on your monitor can be changed within the program; and the mouse is fully-supported for ease in using the menus. …
