During the Institute's Education Conference in November in San Diego the Governing Council approved the following motions from various committees:

--MEMBERSHIP, COMMITTEE:

1. Approved the recommendations of the Membership Admissions Task Force with two modifications:

a. Keeping in place the chapter interview and approval for candidates. Chapters will be given 30 days from notification to complete this process, after which candidate approval can be granted if the chapter does not take action.

b. Require candidates to attend two chapter meetings or events, as shall be defined by the chapter, during the 12 months immediately prior to CPM[R] approval.

2. Approved the recommendations of the task force as they relate to the ARM[R] program.

3. Approved revisions to the CPM, ARM and CPM Candidate reinstatement requirements to establish consistency among the three programs.

--INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE:

1. Approved the formation of both IREM-Japan Chapter No. 110 and IREM-Brazil Chapter No. 111.

--BYLAWS AND INTERNAl POLICY COMMITTEE:

1. Approved amendments to the national bylaws to:

a. Address CPM members outside the United States who are not required to hold membership with NAR.

b. Eliminate the restriction that only CPM members can hold elective office in chapters. While only CPM members can serve as president or president-elect of a chapter, chapters have the ability to allow non-designated members to serve in other elective offices if they so choose.

c. Eliminate the requirement that two representatives from the Real Estate Institute of Canada shall serve on the Governing Council, making the bylaws consistent with the new international partner agreements. However, the president of each IREM chapter in Canada will have a seat on the Governing Council.

d. Eliminate the requirement there be a representative of the Real Estate Institute of Canada on the Executive Committee, making it consistent with the international partner agreements. …
