Annoushka Ducas, founder and creative director of 'gifts for men' retailer Links of London, is a late convert to electronic life aids. Her Damascene techno-moment occurred shortly after buying her first Palm Pilot, and she hasn't looked back since. Now the organiser goes everywhere with her and has been joined by many other gadgets, including a digital camera and a laptop. But should she upgrade to a Blackberry?


I've had it for a couple of years and I use it a lot. I am fairly welded to my phone. I just had the chance to upgrade it, but I didn't.

It's tri-band so it works in the States, which is invaluable, and Nokia's phones are so easy to use. Text messaging is great and it's much quicker if you learn to use the predictive text function. I'm a dedicated texter, but usually I want to speak to people. I have a Bluetooth headset for the car, but it's in a drawer because I couldn't get it to work.


I bought my first Palm four years ago on the way to Dubai and I didn't speak to my husband at all for seven hours on the plane. I was very pleased with myself for working out how to use it without reading the instructions.

The Palm really sold me on technology stuff. I bought loads of them as presents. I really like to beam things to other Palm users - it's sad, but I get a big buzz out of it. I love my Palm (and I have a nice leather case for it), but I'm considering upgrading to a Blackberry - I like the feeling of always being in touch. …
