Information Dimensions Acquires ZyLAB

Information Dimensions, Inc. (IDI) has acquired ZyLAB Corporation, Buffalo Grove, IL, a provider of text retrieval solutions for standalone and networked PCs and UNIX systems. As a result of the acquisition, ZyLAB's ZyINDEX will now be integrated with BASISplus, IDI's multi-user system for document management and retrieval. BASISplus is deployed for mission critical, multi-user document collections for IBM, VAX and UNIX platforms. Together, the worldwide base of these two technologies represents over 150,000 users.

William Griffith, president of IDI stated, "By combining BASISplus and ZyINDEX, IDI can now provide a unique combination of information retrieval and management systems to provide a range of capabilities scalable from a notebook computer to today's workgroup environments to enterprise document databases. Scott Woodard, founder and President of ZyLAB Corporation, commented, "Our new partnership will allow the ZyLAB division to more rapidly leverage our networked PC leadership to address the needs for workgroup text retrieval solutions. As we gain strength in the PC workgroup market, we recognize the need for more readily available local support. IDI's regional support organization will allow us to provide a greater level of support to our corporate customers." Dr. Woodard will serve as Director of the IDI ZyLAB Division, reporting to Mike McDonald, IDI's VP of Acquisitions and Applications Products, leader of the acquisition effort.
