JDP adds two new titles to its "how-to" roster: Engines and The Precision-Farming Guide for Agriculturists
The same quality and performance John Deere has brought to the farm and field for generations can be found in classrooms and workshops of do-it-yourselfers all over the world. Whether studying in the classroom or managing the farm, John Deere Publishing (JDP), a division of Deere & Company, provides a "how-to" guide for anyone interested in equipment repair and farm management.
For more than 40 years, JDP has published educational material for high school and college students, farmers, do-it-yourselfers, repair technicians, and agribusiness professionals. With 48 titles in publication, including new titles on engines and precision farming, these books offer an easy-to-read, comprehensive guide through equipment diagnostics, repair, service, maintenance, mechanical technology, horticulture, safety management, and more.
"John Deere means high-quality, superior products, and service to many people, and JDP offers nothing less," says Sharon Clapp, publication adviser, John Deere Publishing, "JDP offers affordable books that are a "how-to" guide for both entry-level students and agricultural professionals. Whether your focus is on simple equipment repair or complex business strategies, JDP teaches practical solutions in a logical and straightforward fashion."
High school instructor Ken Smith at Trumbull Career and Technical Center in Warren, Ohio, has been using a variety of JDP textbooks in his power equipment mechanics classes for the past 25 years.
"I've been in education for 35 years, and I have reviewed hundreds of agricultural text books. There is no question that JDP offers the best line of textbooks for my classes," says Smith. "The information in the textbooks fits what's going on in today's industry, and the supporting materials, such as overheads and references, make the lessons easier for my students to comprehend. JDP books are the best out there."
Although published by JDP, the manuals are not brand-specific, which allows the reader to work through proper diagnostic, repair, or maintenance procedures that are applicable to all types of equipment. The texts are designed to provide comprehensive coverage, with helpful illustrations and simple ideas, so they are easily understood.
JDP textbooks are the primary educational tools used in the heavy-equipment program at Sir Sandford Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada. Carmen Moore, coordinator of he program at the college, says the texts' applications and relevance to today's agricultural and heavy equipment lay the educational foundation for students among 19 of his courses.
"JDP textbooks are well-structured, and the illustrations are explanatory," he says.
