Don't Miss the Excitement of Chicago

Article excerpt

Chicago has been called the "city of the big shoulders," "hog butcher for the world, tool maker," "stacker of wheat," and that "toddlin' town even Billy Sunday couldn't shut down."

But those monikers completely fail to capture the soaring beauty, charm, and sheer energy of this, twenty-first-century in awhile, you will be amazed at the transformation of Chicago from a somewhat gritty manufacturing center to a glittering tourist oasis: that attracts thirty million visitors a year.

NCEW will be holding its 2004 convention September 29 through OCtober 2 in the heart of it all, at the Wyndham Chicago just Me block east of Michigan Avenue's Magnificent Mile. (For shopping reference, that's also one block east Of Crate & Barrel.)

This elegant hotel features a three-star restaurant, Caliterra.

Within an easy walk from the hotel are Chicago's spectacular lakefront and Navy Pier, the Museum of Contemporary Art, historic Tribune Tower, the Water Tower (now also housing David Schwimmer's new Lookingglass Theater), and the Wrigley Building.

The area also has enough restaurant choices to satisfy whatever craving you have. From classic Chicago-style deep dish pizza or other casual fare to Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Thai, Greek, French Bistro, seafood, or the best steakhouses in the country, it's all here.

Nightlife? Jazz clubs and the House of Blues are just a few minutes away, as are numerous theaters.

Oh, yes, and the entire expanse of the Magnificent Mile is virtually at your doorstep. …
